Wildlife Part 2 - an Afternoon with the Deer

Today was a beautiful day - almost unbelievable for October in England! No rain, no fog, no clouds; only sunlight! I was busy all morning, but as soon as I got off work I decided to spend the afternoon at Richmond Park (even though I had a lot of other work to get done). My trip to the park was worth it! Not only did I get a work out, but I also made a new friend, Fatima from Spain, AND I had the chance to take over 300 pictures of the Queen's deer and other wildlife. Here are some of the photos I took:

Wildlife Part 1

BELOW: This was my first wildlife shot taken with my Nikon D80 in Vermont. The two birdies were hanging on a branch "bickering" in a funny way.

This proud duck was swimming in a placid lake in Austria. It did not seemed to be bothered by my presence and stretched and flapped its wings while I was standing less than 2 meters away.

Being a student at Richmond University has one amazing advantage - we live close to Richmond Park, home of the Queen's deer. Even though it is against the law to shoot the deer, nobody arrested me during my hour-long photoshoot. Below are only two images, slightly dark since it was late in the evening when I went out to the park.

These two guys, however, looked very startled when they realized I was invading their personal space.

My First Polo Game

I decided to go watch a polo game or two at the Ham Polo Club last Sunday, and I must say this sport is very competitive, aggressive, and tough on the horses! It's great to watch a tournament if you want to take some action photos and have the adrenaline in your body rise immensely, but when it comes to loving horses, I wouldn't say that polo is the best sport to observe because of love for the animal. Some of those horses were so exhausted at the end of the game, they were panting and sweating... I felt sorry for them. Anyway, here are a few photos from that event.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Horse

Today I decided to walk down to the Ham Polo Club where there was no polo game going on, but I still managed to go in and take photos of some of the horses there. My goal was to look for new perspectives when photographing a horse.
